Building a Modern Blog with Next.js and Tiptap

Creating a blog today is more than displaying text on a page. A good blogging platform should provide an enjoyable reading experience, a smooth writing workflow, and fast performance.

For this project, I wanted a clean and minimal blog that matched the rest of my portfolio while remaining easy to maintain.

Why Tiptap?

I chose Tiptap because it offers a modern editing experience and stores content as structured JSON instead of one large HTML string.

Its flexibility makes it easy to add new features in the future without redesigning the database.

Inline Images

Adding images directly inside the editor creates a much richer reading experience.

Instead of limiting articles to a single cover image, Tiptap allows images to be inserted exactly where they are needed. This creates a much more natural writing experience.

Security Matters

Even a personal blog should follow good security practices.

Security is much easier to build from the beginning than to add later.

Final Thoughts
